Photography Tips

If you have a good photo of your pet you will end up with a fantastic portrait.

You need a close up, clear photo of your pet and try to get them so they fill the viewfinder.

Good lighting is helpful, the best photos are achieved outside on a cloudy but bright day.

You will find that using a flash can distort your pets true eye colour and sometimes there is no way around this. But don't worry, with guidance from you, Shirley will be able to change this in her portraits.

It is also better to take the photo on the same level as your pet, don't take it from above looking down.

Try not to get your pet looking face on. Cats aren't too bad but pets with long noses can look a bit strange if they are looking straight at the camera.

Sometimes it takes a while to get your pet to sit still or to get them looking in the right direction but even if it takes a few hours, the result will be worth it.

Please see below examples of what makes a good photo.
